Alex Gitari
Alex is a corporate executive with a professional career spanning over 25 years of senior leadership experience. He is, currently, the Managing Director, Kenya Airports Authority having previously served as General Manager, Finance for the Authority. Alex is a member of the National Emergency Response Committee on the Corona (COVID-19) virus and a member of the Steering Committee on Restructuring of the Aviation Sector.
Prior to joining Kenya Airports Authority, Alex worked with Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank - PTA Bank (now renamed Trade and Development Bank) as the Director of Finance for 13 years. He also previously worked as a Senior Consultant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Alex’s academic and professional credentials include a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Commerce degree both from the University of Nairobi. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Programme.
Despite tenure at the helm of Kenya Airports Authority coinciding with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Alex has overseen the implementation of a number of key infrastructure projects including rehabilitation of pavements and airfield ground lighting at Moi International Airport, the on-going refurbishment of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Terminal 1B and C and reconstruction of several airstrips across the country.
